Awards
There are a number of awards that are handed out each year.
The following awards (numbers 1 - 4) require a player to be nominated (preferably not by a family member) with a letter explaining why this person deserves this award.
1. The Alan Simmons Memorial Trophy - Youth Player of the Year
For male players (12-17 years). This is not necessarily for the best player, but for the player who has shown commitment to working the hardest at both training and at the game, or for playing on in a game because the team needs them. It is preferred to get 2 nominations from each team.
2. The Brett Doherty Trophy - Female Youth Player of the Year
Like the Alan Simmons Trophy, this is open to female players (12-17 years) who also shows outstanding commitment.
3. Goalkeeper Award
Open to all junior players
4. Citizenship Award
Someone who has gone above the normal expectations of helping out around the club.
5. Player's Player
Like the Alan Simmons and Brett Doherty Trophies, this award is not awarded necessarily to the best player but a player who is always at training, on time to training and games, shows good sportsmanship on and off the field, friendly to all members of the team, will help the coach carry/pack up equipment without fuss etc. This is voted on by the players. Awarded to one player per junior team.
