The role of the Ground Official is to maintain a safe environment for all at the field ensuring that no one gets involved with sports rage – either home team or an away team.
In the first instance, each team (home and away) must have a team official (who is not the Coach or Manager) who is responsible for ensuring the spectators for their team behave themselves. In addition, the must also respond to the referee's request to control individuals (team members or spectators). In the event that the person does not calm down then the Ground Official will be asked to assist.
The following list the basic duties of the position:
1. Wear the coloured vest provided
2. Ensure that spectators do not encroach on the field of play.
3. Ensure the area behind the gaol posts is kept clear.
4. Assist the referee as requested.
5. Ensure that alcohol is not consumed in the vicinity of the park.
Remember, you are not alone. There will always be a member of the committee on hand if you are not sure what to do.
