Pre-Season Games – Coming Soon
In the beginning of the season, trial
and pre-season games come up fast. Sometimes you have not even organised a
single training session before the first match! Make sure everyone is
aware that this can happen. Some coaches and parents are uncomfortable about
this, and some have even forfeited blaming the lack of training. This
disappoints the players of both teams and wastes the opportunity to play- and
after all, isn't that what players/parents have paid for?
Younger children don't care about
whether or not they have trained. They just love chasing the ball around the
field and a few weeks of training can make little difference to how they play.
It can be hard for you if you don't know all their names, but it doesn't matter
as everyone is in the same situation. Just let them have fun.
Older players need as much time
meeting and playing with their team-mates as they can. As coach you will see
what the different players can do, and give you ideas for training. The result
of the game doesn't matter as this is really only practice for when the season
really starts. Make the most of the opportunity!

You should have received a hand-out
from our Club Coach during the team sorting/allocation weeks. Please remember
that the he is available at the ground on most days, and is happy to help with
advice at any time.
